Description
The popular Western Tatras have something to offer for recreational and demanding tourists, explorers and rock climbers. Hrubá kopa (Gross Hill) is a frequently visited top of this location, which requires a lot of physical and technical skills of tourists.
This charming alpine two-thousander is characterized by its pyramid shape. It rises over the Roháče and Žiar valleys and passes the border of the national nature reserve of Roháčske plesá.
The ascent to Hrubá kopa is a challenging high-altitude hike, as the sections of the route lead through access side peaks, especially through Tri kopy or Baníkov. Exposed sections on the main ridge are provided with artificial technical aids. But the blissful ascent and beautiful views of the surrounding area are priceless.
The main ridge is, like other parts of the Tatras, closed from 1.11. to 15.6. The traditional starting point for hikes in this area is the Žiar Valley, Tatliak's Cottage or Adamcuľa.
